Description

This foundation aquatic fitness Instructor program provides leaders with functional techniques to design a water group exercise program for a variety of ages, skills and fitness levels. This onsite practical training will provide instructors with the general structure and a variety of workshops. We will review both  shallow and deep water programs utilizing basic moves and techniques to adjust intensity and progression. The goal is to provide a balanced program that is safe, effective and enjoyable for the diverse populations that attend group exercise classes. You will learn visual and verbal teaching skills to provide training for the cardiovascular system as well as techniques for muscular strengthening, flexibility and balance training. Leaders will experience both theory (classroom) and practical (pool) sessions. We do recommend that you have taken some aquatic fitness classes and are comfortable in the water, however, no experience is necessary – just a love of the water and fitness! Candidates will have up to six months after the training days to complete examination process (theory & practical assessment). We strongly recommend that you register and review materials  prior to the training” as training will be more practical information and review of lesson plan. Candidates have up to six months after the training to complete examination process (practical presentation via Zoom, Google Meet, Skype ,Face time or  video goggle upload). The onsite training will review a variety of workshops in both shallow and deep water as well as tips and tools to build a program using aquatic fitness equipment such as noodles, foam weights, happy hand weights, paddles and other progressive equipment.

The following workshops will be covered onsite:

SHALLOW  WATER SPLASH (Saturday):  If you need creative ideas for multi-level shallow water classes, this class is for you! Learn how to create and develop combinations to keep your classes energized. Make the movements flow with changes of direction, speed and intensity levels. Learn how to mix and match working positions with basic movement to create variations and combinations without the complication of choreography. Review how to design a shallow water class using working positions to vary impact and intensity. There are infinite combinations of movement variations and techniques to keep your programs revitalized and benefiting your  multi-level groups. DEEP H20 TRAINING (Saturday): Learn to program safe and effective exercise in a non-impact environment. Deep water training allows cardiovascular movement and muscular conditioning in a variety of body positions not possible on land. Plan your program design to serve a variety of participants using buoyant equipment such as noodles or buoyancy belts.  Learn key cardiovascular movements and/or specific muscle targeting to help map out a program. Discover how to target all of the major muscle groups in deep water. Review the body positions to aid each individual to achieve optimal posture, muscle balance, and performance. Optimize visual and verbal communication techniques to help you to coach and motivate safely from the deck. Cool Warm Ups & Hot Warm Downs (Sunday) Whether teaching a group of high energy athletes or a program for people with movement problems or anyone with fitness levels in between, the warm up component is the time to set the level and tone for the upcoming program. There is such a wide variety of aquatic programs available it is important that each Instructor learns to customize warm up movements to suit the level of the individuals attending the class. The same applies to the warm down. How long should it be? What moves should be included to get people out of the pool safely. Learn safe stretching moves and relaxation techniques to make sure they end the program in a successful frame of mind and can’t wait to come back for more. Take the time to be successful at the beginning of a program and finish as a winner with a complete program. MUSCLE UP (Sunday): Muscles Move—Fat Floats! Muscular strength is needed in the water to promote cardiovascular fitness and burn calories. Understand how to effectively optimize muscle targeting for all your major muscle groups. Help your clients gain the most out of their programs with muscular fitness and balance exercises. Learn a specific exercise inventory and three levels of progression. This workshop may be facilitated with or without water fitness equipment. We will review three levels of intensity progress for every major muscle group with and without equipment.
