This onsite practical training will provide instructors with ideas and techniques to develop their utilizing a system of progression. The goal is to provide a balanced program that is safe, effective and enjoyable for the diverse populations that attend group exercise classes. Instructors will learn visual and verbal teaching skills to provide training for the cardiovascular system as well as techniques for muscular strengthening, flexibility and balance training. Leaders will experience both theory (classroom) and practical (pool) sessions. We do recommend that you have taken some aquatic fitness classes and are comfortable in the water, however, no experience is necessary – just a love of the water and fitness!
Workshop Topics:
Shallow H2O Training: Train for purpose and results. There are many ways to create interesting yet innovative ideas in the water. Whether you are training muscular conditioning, flexibility or simply incorporating activities of daily living. Learn how to mix and match your moves to create variations and combinations to keep your programs classes energized and effective. Movement patterns constantly need to be varied OR the clients will plateau or start talking. If you need creative ideas for multi level shallow water classes this class is for you!
MUSCLE UP WORKSHOP: Muscles Move—Fat Floats! Muscular strength is needed in the water to promote cardiovascular fitness and burn calories. Understand how to effectively optimize muscle targeting for all your major muscle groups. Help your clients gain the most out of their programs with muscular fitness and balance exercises. Learn a specific exercise inventory and three levels of progression. This workshop may be facilitated with or without water fitness equipment. We will review three levels of intensity progress for every major muscle group with and without equipment.

Kick the intensity up a notch and keep your participants motivated with a no-nonsense workout. Add variety and challenge utilizing aerobic and muscle conditioning interval sets or circuit stations. We will explore three different workouts and review 3 levels of intensity suitable so patrons may incrementally progress their fitness and workout using a self-paced exercise system.
The goal of the program is to provide a more athletic approach to fitness classes (weekend warrior through high performance patron). Intervals of cardiovascular conditioning will be integrated into flexibility and muscular strengthening sets using the protection and multi-dimensional resistance of water fitness.
