Description
This video provides a simple work-along-program to engage movement for all major muscles and joints. Each exercise is demonstrated to make it easy to follow and explained to help students understand why and how the movement will help keep the body coordinated, balanced and mobile. The program covers exercises that will get the “new to exercise” or “out of condition” older adult moving at a self-regulated pace. There is repetition of many basic moves to help develop muscle memory before advancing to more complicated or combination-type exercises. Emphasis is on posture, coordination, balance and mobility. Towards the end of the program there is some gentle Tai Chi and Yoga movement adapted for the chair or modified to standing positions. These moves are designed to help relax both mind and body. Stretching exercises using the chair for balance or seated bring the program to a conclusion with a song of encouragement from the instructor. Ideal for a senior exercise program.
