Certification Renewal

Here is the full Certification renewal form in PDF FORMAT click (PDF Download)

Fitness Industry standards require that all fitness professionals must renew their certification(s) qualifications every 2 years or less.
If a certification is expired the Instructor will have up to one year after the expiration to renew these qualifications from the certification(s) expiry date. After one year, all certifications are considered expired and these qualifications can no longer be renewed. To re-instate any certification the Instructor will be required to complete the required certification program and exam competencies again. Each individual must purchase their own Certification package (we don't allow sharing due to copyright and liability reasons). Instructors with multiple certifications have ONE renewal date for all. One certification renewal fee automatically renews all levels of qualifications with WaterART Fitness. WaterART does not transfer certifications from other organizations.

To meet liability insurance requirements, Certified Instructors, Trainers and Specialists must obtain one of the following every two (2) years:

Option 1: Complete a minimum of 16.0 CEC hours (either onsite CEC workshops or quizzes for DVDs or programs)

Option 2: Complete another level of WaterART Certification prior to your existing Certification expiration. In doing so, the candidate receives more qualifications as well as a complimentary upgrade of existing qualifications for two years. Click here full list of certifications.

Full Details of Option #1)  Complete a minimum of 16.0 CEC hours (either onsite CEC workshops or quizzes for DVDs or programs)

Each Instructor must obtain 16 CECs hours (Continuing Education Credits) within the 2-year certification period prior to their expiry date to qualify for renewal (i.e. if the expiration date is August 24, 2020, CEC hours must be achieved between August 24, 2018 and August 24, 2020). Any additional hours within that two year period may not be carried over to the next renewal period. Candidates may complete onsite CECs workshops OR  home study quiz hours (All DVDs have corresponding quizzes). Quizzes never expire from date when purchased; however, candidates may not reuse the same quiz for different renewal periodAll CEC hours that have been obtained or registered directly with WaterART Fitness, are kept on file. Once the candidate has obtained these hours, all certification levels will be renewed for 2 years from the expiration date with the submission of this renewal form with payment. You may simply go online, phone or fax in your application.

If submitting NON WaterART Fitness hours (up to 8 hours ) a candidate must submit a renewal form with payment and appropriate paper work (see criteria below). If y
ou prefer pre-approval see link. These hours could be from the following any approved courses through reputable educational providers such as a University, College,  FPAO/OFC, ACE, APFA, NFLA. YMCA, coaching, nutrition, lifestyle coaching, adult learning courses, anatomy, biomechanics, injury risk, University transcripts for Exercise Science courses etc. When submitting NON WaterART hours for your Certification renewal, all paperwork must be submitted together or there is a preview fee of $35.00 + applicable taxes.

WaterART Fitness does not accept emergency safety hours as part of the CEC renewal hours ( as you need this in addition to your 16.0 CEC hours)Non WaterART hours will only be reviewed once we have received all of the above paper work or pre-review payment OR all paperwork ( a minimum of 8.0 CEC WaterART & maximum of 8.0 Non- WaterART and Certification renewal payment).  Candidates may only utilize their CECs for one renewal period however, there is no time limit on utilizing quizzes;however, once submitted they may not be re-utilized.

Full Details of OPTION # 2) Complete another level of WaterART Certification.

Achieving another level of qualification will renew and update all Certifications for 2 years from passing date of the newest certification level. WaterART Certification programs are available via home study education or onsite training events. Certification programs are divided into 2 categories:

1)  Comprehensive Certifications

2)  Specialty Certifications

Comprehensive Certification requires completion of BOTH a theory exam and a practical assessment to become fully Certified. All candidates have up to six months from purchase date or onsite training date to complete without penalty except the Basic Instructor Certification which must be completed within 4 months.

Specialty Certification Requires: All candidates who are currently WaterART Certified need only to complete the theory component of the exam process to renew and achieve qualifications as long as their present Certification(s) are current.  Any candidate NEW to WaterART Fitness completing either a Land or Water Certification for the first time will be required to BOTH theory and practical assessment to become fully Certified, Instructors with a Certification for water only and who wish to become Land Certified will be required to do a land practical. The same applies to land only Certified instructors if they wish to become Water Certified. If you have applied or trained for a new Certification but do not complete this before your current WaterART Certification expiry date you will be required to pay a LATE renewal fee and complete a new practical assessment.

If you have multiple Certifications, all of your Certifications use the same renewal date. Therefore, one renewal will re-qualify the candidate with all Certifications every 2 years.  When  successfully completed another level of certification before the expiration date no fee will be required, and candidates will automatically be issued electronic Certification Diplomas from the  passing date. If  hard copies are required, a charge of  $15.00 shipping fee is required.  Additionally, all candidates will need to maintain their own Emergency Safety Qualifications such as either a CURRENT Life-guard Qualification OR a valid CPR/FIRST AID/AED. This is written on the Certification Diploma as dates typically do not coincide.

Note that the WP Membership program is separate to your Certification(s) or Qualifications.

Here are some examples of 8 hours (correspondence or onsite) which must be specific to WaterART Fitness.

You may also purchase Quizzes and DVD's. Each quiz is worth 2.0 hours of CEC's Note:  Each individual must purchase their own as we don't allow sharing of CEC's/Quizzes/DVD'S.
