These comprehensive DVDs are designed
to give a comprehensive overview of exercises suitable for a general
population recovering from injury, replacement surgery, and other
debilitating conditions that prevent them from enjoying full mobility
with daily living. In other words, this program is for less fit
population as compare to the aquatic rehabilitation Athletic program.
The
learning objective is to understand anatomy, safe joint range, muscle
action and overall fitness levels requirements to be able to design and
oversee safe exercise programs that will help each person return, as
close as possible to, or improve upon, their previous levels of
mobility.
The goal is to provide overall mobility for recovery.
We will review suggested exercises for: mobility, the Cervical Thoracic and Lumbar areas of the spine, and the shoulder, hip, knee and ankle joint areas.
Other
exercises include suggestions for clients requiring CVA or post stroke
rehabilitation which can also be used for most movement disorders. These
exercises will provide the Instructor with a generic base of safe,
adaptable movement that can be combined to create programs suitable to
each client's personal needs. Some people with a chronic condition may
never advance beyond a certain stage for recovery – however this does
not mean they have not improved their quality of life. We train to work
on the ability not disability.

Intro To Post Rehabilitation Instructor - DVD091 part 1
This
Tutorial DVD follows a powerpoint presentation to introduce the
Instructor to the many aspects of Post Rehabilitation in the water.
Topics include the wide variety of conditions that can be helped in the
water. The need to work on mobility and function to bring each client
back as close as possible to former strengths. Suggestions for safe
water entry and many practical comments to train water skills will help
the instructor create an effective program suited to each client's
ability. This program will review an essential checklist for programming
people with many functional limitations who are new to water
exercise.( 31 minutes) Intro To AnatomyDVD091 part 2 Having
a good general knowledge of all joint and muscle action is an essential
part of Post Rehabilitation programming. This Tutorial DVD power point
presentation guided by Leigh de Groot Doctor of Physiotherapy gives
professionals a complete overview of all joint biomechanics and the
muscle action required to move through a safe range of motion. Each
major muscle group is examined in detail for location, strengths and
weaknesses. A wide variety of exercises are shown to assist instructors
to chose safe movement for the condition being rehabbed in the water.
(62 minutes)
Beginner Mobility Program DVD091 part 3 -A
picture is worth a thousand words. Follow WaterART Master Trainers Jane
Pomponio and Julie Twynham as they take you through an inventory of
movement essential to safe water programming for post rehabilitation
clients who are new to water, new to exercise or both. All exercise
movements are shown above and underwater with subtitles and detailed
commentary for effective video training reference. (56 minutes)
Shallow Water Exercises for those New to Exercise DVD091 part 4 Learn
how to work one on one with a post rehabilitation client in shallow
water. This DVD illustrates how to get the client into the water safely
and comfortably. Once in, the instructor and client work through an
inventory of essential movement to train for function on land. This
inventory includes safe and effective warm up movement, specific
strengthening and stretching exercises and ideas for modifications for
the wide variety of conditions that clients bring to the water. (68
minutes)
Unloaded Water Exercises for those New to Exercise DVD091 part 5 This
DVD is designed to help clients who need to begin their post
rehabilitation without any loaded stress on their joints. The client is
fitted with a belt to keep the feet off the pool floor. All movement can
be done suspended in shallow water or taken to the deep end if the
client has developed safe water skills. Exercises cover all components
of fitness and show how to train the client to handle buoyancy, using
instructor assistance at first, then, working solo as they feel
comfortable. The client can be trained to use the resistance of water
to assist travel as well as increasing resistance to add strengthening
progressions as their condition improves. The goal is to provide
balanced exercise that will provide benefits for their safe return to
land. (59 minutes)
Equipment Toolbox DVD091 part 6 There
is a wide variety of equipment available for pool use, some floats
while others sink. Which will be safe and effective to help your
client? Take a look at the differences between buoyant and resistive
equipment and the requirements for the many general post rehabilitation
conditions that may come to your pool. Each exercise must be specific
to the condition and be both safe and effective. See suggestions for
targeting the same exercise with different pieces of equipment to help
with choice. (65minutes)
What is a Tutorial? The
tutorial is a guided presentation a Certified WaterART Master Trainer
which reviews all the classroom sessions and information (that
instructors would typically receive) if attending an onsite training
course. Often, more and more instructors are taking our programs via
home study because travel and accommodation are cost prohibitive.
Tutorials are an excellent option and investment - and they also may be
reviewed several times if the information is new and somewhat
overwhelming. We highly recommend Guided Tutorials to non Exercise
Science people taking our programs because you receive university
quality education without having to attend university or college.
