The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Centerís Health & Fitness Center in New Albany seeks to hire a Group Fitness Instructor who will embrace our mission, to create healthy living through community activities, events and personalized wellness and disease prevention, to reach our ultimate goal of creating the nationís healthiest community right here at homeóand serve as a model for cities all around the U.S. This Centerís integrative approach to wellness and design inspires a healthier lifestyle with a personalized approach.

Under the supervision of the Group Exercise Coordinator, the Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for instructing their assigned exercise classes by providing group exercise instruction, monitoring, educating patrons on fitness and safety, providing world-class customer service, promoting member retention, and maintaining a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for participants. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: demonstrate the ability to move rhythmically to the beat of the music including the ability to incorporate optimal usage of cuing, tempo, choreography, and safe transitional movements from one pattern to another. Promote knowledge and dynamics of proper group fitness components, i.e.: warm up, aerobic exercise, flexibility, cool down, etc. Instruct members on effective workout methods; explain proper techniques, demonstrate exercises, appropriately identify different muscle groups, and teach appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles. Modifications should be provided by the instructor for all levels of participants within the classroom. Assist members, answer questions, and create a positive exercise experience for members and class participants. Maintain applicable certification/licensures.
