Examine the most common types of arthritis to better design programs for this clientele. Learn to modify and progress exercises, and to vary impact and intensity to meet the multi-level needs. There are more than 100 diseases in the arthritis category and it is widely accepted that most of the symptoms may be greatly benefited through water exercise. This program will review exercise inventory for safe and effective exercise design based on an understanding of functional range of motion and joint action. This balanced program will target cardiovascular training, functional fitness, muscular endurance and strength, balance and flexibility training. WaterART working positions will be introduced to provide multi level programming to help each participant train at an appropriate intensity level for self paced exercise - appropriate for types of arthritis. This program will also introduce the use of flotation and resistive devices such as noodles and resistive paddles for improved performance. Water Walking and Tai Chi movements will be incorporated to train mobility, gait and balance.

For successful DWT (Deep Water Training) equipment is required to provide a balance between work and rest (so muscles do not fatigue prior to breathing). WaterART recommends utilizing equipment such as a buoyancy belt or a noodle to assist with the body’s support especially to enhance range of motion with each movement. Working out in deep water is more challenging than in shallow water because, in deep, the body’s center of balance is at the chest whereas, in shallow water, the balance is at the feet that are more easily anchored down to the pool floor. In order to effectively work in deep water, each person must learn and maintain good balance skills to anchor the core muscles against buoyancy.

IS THERE A NEED FOR SPECIFIC DEEP WATER TRAINING? YES!

To name just a few:  1) Many pools do not have sufficient room in the shallow end to accommodate the number of participants that come to group aquatic program  2) Deep water offers a wide choice of programs without impact.  For specialized populations and  conditions, such as, arthritis, back problems, or post rehabilitation programming, the deep offers a cushioning effect for the joints and sore areas.  For the athlete, strength training in this multi-resistance environment offers tremendous challenge.  This is an especially useful selling point if the athlete is involved with a high impact sport. Seasoned aquatic exercise buffs are looking for more challenge and/or more program opportunities. The answer get them to add a deep water program to their shallow water program so they have variety in training.

Certification Registration fee includes:

  • 8 hours of lecture & pool time,

  • Manual with study guide questions & answers,

  • DVD007-Deep H2O Program,

  • DVD008-Deep H2O Muscles,

  • DVD035-Deep Noodles,

  • Laminated reference cards,

  • WaterART certification process (theory & practical)

  • Automatic renewal & upgrade of your existing WaterART Certification(s) upon successful exam completion,

  • Certificate of course completion,

  • Certification E-Diploma & certified status upon successful completion.

Specialty Certification Process: You have up to SIX MONTHS after training date to complete both your theory and practical examinations After 6 months, you will be required to pay a late fee of $35.00 for each exam. After a year, we no longer accept your submissioin. If you are currently Certified with WaterART Fitness you only require to complete the theory exam and you do not have to complete another practical assessment.  Upon successful completion of this Speciality Certification program your existing WaterART Certifications will be renewed 2 years from the date of your newest certification (your pass date).
