The goal of this program is to provide regular and consistent exercise for the older population that will improve their overall physical health. The Gentle Sit and Stand program can improve the quality of life by decreasing pain, swelling, and stiffness while increasing joint range of motion, agility, balance and strength. This program is recommended for residential care for the 80+ population and will focus on providing a variety of tools and resources to build a safe, effective and purposeful program to include, for example, balance and fall prevention training, muscular strength training to prevent muscle atrophy, posture training for alleviating stress on the spine, movement and reducing repetitive stress injuries, dementia and mental changes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), osteoarthritis and the many other conditions that fall into the “arthritic” category, osteoporosis, vision issues including age-related macular degeneration (AMD) cataracts, hearing loss, replacement joints (hips, knees) or shoulders or ankle mobility issues, neuromuscular disorders including Parkinson’s Disease, MS, etc..
You will be required to submit the theory exam online for this Instructor workshop day in order to renew your Certifications.

achieve 16.0 hours of continuing education hours AND automatic
Certification renewal for two years from your expiration date. We invite
you to bring any questions or program ideas that you need clarification
on as we may easily fit this into the schedule. Should you not be able
to attend the entire event, we will provide a take-home quiz and DVD to
submit to re-qualify.

The goal of this program is to provide instructors, personal trainers and health care providers with a comprehensive yet practical approach for working with an aging population. The program is suitable for seniors who may have a variety of medical conditions and who may be either frail or a more active participant. This certification involves both a theory segment and practical component to help you learn a variety of fitness ideas for a mixed community or a retirement facility setting. Exercises are designed for both chair and standing programs or a combination of both. The program design features gentle cardiovascular moves to help with balance, agility and coordination incorporated with conditioning for stretching and strengthening exercises. Equipment such as weights, resistance bands, balls, wands and tethers are used for training. The manual has a large inventory of illustrations for suggested exercises.

Certification Process:You will have up to SIX MONTHS
from your training date to complete both your theory and practical
examinations. The theory exam is a take-home, open book exam. You email
us your exam answers or mail the exam in to be marked. Sharing exam
answers is strictly prohibited. The practical exam may be completed
either via an onsite assessment or DVD/video submission. You may decide
on the day of the course how you would like to complete the training. If
you think that you may want to complete your practical onsite, we
highly recommend that you order and review your course materials in
