Water exercise is an excellent modality for managing ourselves and our well being. Explore ways to develop physical and mental strength, co-ordination and rejuvenation. This program includes theoretical information and practical approaches to various mind-body techniques including yoga, tai-chi, Pilates, relaxation and de-stressing techniques Formulate appropriate exercise inventory in the water for the Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates and other mindful movement programs. Learn how to market programs either as a separate entity or as part of a regular group exercise program.

Examination and Certification Process:You have up to SIX MONTHS
from your training date to complete both your theory and practical
examinations. The theory exam is a take-home, open book exam. You email
us your exam answers or mail the exam in to be marked. Sharing exam
answers is strictly prohibited. The practical exam may be completed
either via an onsite assessment or DVD/video submission. You may decide
on the day of the course how you would like to complete the training. If
you think that you may want to complete your practical onsite, we
highly recommend that you order and review your course materials in

For successful DWT (Deep Water Training) equipment is required to provide a balance between work and rest (so muscles do not fatigue prior to breathing). WaterART recommends utilizing equipment such as a buoyancy belt or a noodle to assist with the body’s support especially to enhance range of motion with each movement. Working out in deep water is more challenging than in shallow water because, in deep, the body’s center of balance is at the chest whereas, in shallow water, the balance is at the feet that are more easily anchored down to the pool floor. In order to effectively work in deep water, each person must learn and maintain good balance skills to anchor the core muscles against buoyancy

Saturday will review Arthritis H20 Programming & Workshop at Bear Family YMCA351 George Williams Way, Newark, DE
Examine the most common types of arthritis to better design programs for this clientele. Learn to modify and progress exercises, and to vary impact and intensity to meet the multi-level needs. There are more than 100 diseases in the arthritis category and it is widely accepted that most of the symptoms may be greatly benefited through water exercise. This program will review exercise inventory for safe and effective exercise design based on an understanding of functional range of motion and joint action. This balanced program will target cardiovascular training, functional fitness, muscular endurance and strength, balance and flexibility training. WaterART working positions will be introduced to provide multi level programming to help each participant train at an appropriate intensity level for self paced exercise - appropriate for types of arthritis. This program will also introduce the use of flotation and resistive devices such as noodles and resistive paddles for improved performance. Water Walking and Tai Chi movements will be incorporated to train mobility, gait and balance.
Sunday will review Pre & Post natal H2O Programming Workshop atWestern Family YMCA 2600 Kirkwood Hwy, Newark, DE
Water exercise is an excellent modality for pre and post-natal fitness. Learn about the changes a woman goes through in pregnancy and investigate appropriate program design. Learn the strategies to integrate moms- to-be with regular aquatic programs or to create specific “pre natal” programming. Based on ACOG Exercise Guidelines. This is an excellent program for programming an expectant mom in a regular group exercise program OR a stand alone program for expectant moms. Note: There are many contraindications for programming this population so we highly recommend this program for all Certified instructors.
