Since earning her bachelor’s degree at Ryerson University and completing a dietetic internship at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Denise Carr has devoted her practice to helping people with diabetes. Because exercise is one of the corner stones of diabetes prevention and treatment, Denise has been participating in various exercise courses since 1980’s. The WaterART fitness courses have met all her needs. She completed WaterArts Gold Certification in 2009. “I enjoy the classes and review the DVD’s to update the aquafit programs I teach.” She leads aquafit classes for the City of Brampton Parks and Recreation. “I’d like to share a success story that other instructors could easily try”, says Denise, “At the beginning of each week, I review a WaterArts DVD and add a couple of new exercises to my classes. Clients say the classes keep getting better and better.” Denise received a Master of Arts in Education. She is the 2002 recipient of a Graduate Scholarship awarded to DES members to encourage studies in diabetes-related fields. She lives in Brampton with her husband, two daughters, and an assortment of pets.
