Christina de Souza has been actively involved in water fitness for the last 17 years. She is the Aquafit Trainer for the City of Toronto for the last 4 years developing training manuals, and training seminars for the City of Toronto Aquafit staff.
In the past, Christina not only coached a youth swim team but participated in lifeguard competitions and swim instruction. Her start was with the YMCA, and she continues her aquatic career working for the City of Toronto as well as for private organizations and maintains her own fitness business as well with private training sessions both in the water and in the gym
Christina takes an active role in children and youth development and their roles in the fitness industry. With discussion groups and information sessions along with a pre or post natal workouts in the water and/ or on land, moms and babies receive a positive introduction to a lifetime enjoyment of exercise. Continuing her fitness education, Christina has further certifications with Athletics Canada, NCCP trained, Run Jump Throw Instructor for youth, along with Twist Conditioning, and Lebert Systems and past certifications with Can Fit Pro.
Her other interest and main focus is working with older adults and those individuals with specialized conditions. She believes the older populations should live independent lives for as long as possible. This makes for healthy, strong and happy persons staving off depression and isolation.
She also facilitates ongoing 40 hour instructor WaterART courses developed in partnership with the City of Toronto along with specialty courses.
