The goal of this program is to provide instructors, personal trainers, and health care providers with comprehensive yet practical approach of facilitating an aging population with a variety of medical conditions.
Seniors may be both active or frail so you will have to learn a variety of techniques and exercises to create a progressive and effective program.
Guidelines for specialized populations including: functional and age related problems, cardiovascular disease, pulmonary diseases, Parkinson's Disease and movement disorders, Multiple Sclerosis,
Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, motor vehicle accidents, as well as excellent exercise ideas for programming with common problems of the back, hips, knees, shoulders, neck and ankles. This training will
focus on "how to" design functional exercise sets for helping the aging population maintain their activities of daily living (ADL's). Techniques for cardiovascular training, muscular endurance and strengthening sets,
flexibility, balance, posture and gait will be reviewed for progressive of benefiting overall health. The program will easily explain the "why's" of program design because of the gained knowledge with functional fitness assessments
and reviewing each individuals baseline health.

Functional Fitness Assessments – Protocols and related exercise design
A full Senior Program or Class Design
Methods of monitoring and regulating exercise intensity
How to design exercise sets or segments specific for cardiovascular training, muscular endurance and strength, flexibility and mobility, posture, balance and agility
Understanding Basic Anatomy and Joint Action
Understanding Functional Range of Motion for each joint action.
Programming for Activities of Daily Living (ADL's)

HOW EXAM PROCESS WORKS
You will have up to six months to complete both theory & practical assessments without penalty fee.
After one year, we can no longer accept exams.
All exams are in the back of the manual with an overview of performance standards and marking scheme.
If you are an existing Certified WaterART Instructor, this program will automatically update your existing qualifications for 2 years from your pass date of this program without paying a renewal fee.
Please note: All Instructors will need to complete a practical land assessment with this program.
