Correspondence or home study training is a great way to upgrade your education and keep within your schedule and travel budget.
NOTE: Home study courses are for INDIVIDUAL USE ONLY. Each person must purchase their own correspondence course to complete the full Certification qualifications.
Correspondence must be completed in your own time within 6 months ( or sooner) from the date of purchase (when order was processed) .
To complete Home Study Certification:
1. Read a manual
2. and answer the study guide questions (answers are in the back of the manual for self- checking).
3. Watch a DVD (s) and write down the exercise inventory
4. Watch the DVD(s) and practice teaching or moving
5. Take laminated cards to the pool to practice and experience the properties of water.
6. Complete the theory exam; email the answers.
7. Complete the practical assessment ( either onsite or via a VHS/DVD submission) All information is detailed in the exam at the back of the manual.
Onsite Practical Assessment
You MUST complete a practical assessment if you do not already have ONE of the following five certifications: Instructor, Seniors, Rehabilitation, Personal Training or Weight Management.
All Instructors ( Fundamentals & Senior's will need to complete a practical assessment). Rehabilitation Specialist & Personal Training Specialist will complete a case study assessment.
You have 3 options for completing the practical assessment for Certification. (The theory exam should be submitted at the same time as the practical assessment)
To complete a practical assessment choose ONE of the following:
1. Attend a date that is scheduled with a Master Trainer. Please check online at www.waterart.org for dates and times.
2. Submit a home video/DVD of your class. It should be reflective of the class design you wrote out as part of the theory exam. We follow it along with your video/DVD submission.
3. Contact WaterART to find a local Master Trainer. You must travel to them and work around their schedules. Each onsite assessment takes 20-30 minutes. It is not necessary for the Master Trainer to attend your whole program; you only have to complete the competencies.
Report cards are written for both theory exams and practical assessments.
Report cards are emailed to you prior to receiving the diploma.
Once you are successful - you will receive an official WaterART Certified Diploma, Certification Card are mailed to you. You may also login and view your Certification Qualifications online ( MY ACCOUNT profile)
Practical Onsite Exam requirements:
Teaching other instructors who attend the assessment date or the Master Trainer ( there are usually 3-5 people in a group OR you teach the assessor)
You must answer a few oral safety questions
Teach the following:
a 3-5 minute warm up
a 3-5 minute Cardio set
(2) 3-5 minute Strength sets
a 3-5 minute Warm Down
You will be evaluated on your understanding of the exercise objective, the clarity of instruction and the safety and effectiveness of the exercise.
PLEASE NOTE: There is a $35.00 late fee if you are after the 6 month period. After a year, you must complete the program again.
