The work schedule for this position will be approximately 4 hours per week.

Holland Bloorview offers high quality Aquatic Fitness programs in our well maintained, warm, fully-accessible pools. Our Aquafitness Instructor is responsible for providing class participants with a well-designed, physically safe program which meets the individual needs of each person. This individual must be an energetic, dedicated and motivated instructor who enjoys teaching various fitness programs in a group environment. The Instructor must be able to effectively teach the class from the water or the pool deck.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Including physical/sensory effort, work environment and/or hazardous conditions
• Warm pool environment (water temp. 92-96 degrees)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts safe classes at all times by adhering to standards established for physical fitness classes in terms of exertion and avoidance of contraindicated exercises; Maintains a dynamic and personable attitude while instructing participants; Develops classes and routines according to current exercise physiology standards; Provides exemplary service through providing information, being courteous to all participants; Attends all mandatory staff meetings, workshops, or trainings; Prepares all teaching materials, class layout and equipment prior to start of class as well as returns all equipment back at the conclusion of class; Utilizes innovative teaching strategies that will maximize participant success; Provides a safe and supportive learning environment; Arrive on deck prior to the start of the first class and have all necessary equipment ready before class starts; Start and end all classes on time

MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Minimum two years previous experience teaching Aquafitness classes to adults is required; Current WaterART Instructor Certification; Specialized certification related to teaching “special populations” (arthritis, rehabilitation, seniors, pre/post natal, etc.); Experience teaching youth or “guardian & baby” programs an asset; Current CPR; Excellent customer service and communication skills to coach and mentor a diverse range of participants; Excellent Leadership skills
